Serena as a baby

Serena, my lovely little grand daughter was born on 14th January 1979. She brought joy to all our hearts being my first grand child. I loved her cute little ways and her quiet nature. She was a child that everyone liked and loved.

As she grew she became more pretty and lovable every day. She was equally happy playing with friends or on her own. I remember a day quite clearly when she was playing by herself in my back garden. She was pretending to be riding a horse, jumping over fences. She loved horses and eventually got a pony of her own.

Then one terrible day in March 1986, she was on her way to a friend’s house from school, which was on the same quiet road, with limited access. A car which was going too fast for that road, nor was he supposed to be there, knocked her down. She was rushed to hospital but her injuries were too severe and she went to be with the Lord the following day.
The next few days even weeks were a living nightmare. The pain and the grief were almost unbearable. Even now as I write this it brings a tear to my eye. As we struggled to come to terms with what had happened God broke in.
I was a Christian at that time but a very new one, and God gave me a vision of Serena in heaven. She had on a new frock and was playing in a field of golden flowers with friends. And I felt the Lord say “It’s OK she’s with me now”. Two days later at the funeral a Christian friend gave my daughter a card with a poem which she had written. This poem described my vision, confirming to me that it really had come from the Lord.

Serena

Come, newly dressed in garments fair,
With golden flowers in your hair,
To say you’re home, little one.

Come joyfully, with shining face,
And show your family the place,
You have in Jesus’ home, little one

Playing forever,
Laughing and chatting,
With playmates and Jesus,
How lucky you are, little one.

I also had the assurance that Serena was in heaven because just three weeks before she died, she asked me “How do I become a Christian, Nanna?” I then had the privilege of leading her to the Lord in a short prayer.

If you would like to begin a personal relationship with Jesus today, please say this prayer and mean it with all your heart:
Lord Jesus Christ
I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life. I ask your forgiveness and now turn from everything which is wrong. Thank you for dying on the cross for me to set me free from my sins. Please take charge of my life and fill me with your Holy Spirit and be with me forever. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen.

If you have made this commitment please e-mail me. Thank you
